page sizes & margins for performance materials
__ page size
If you are to print the performance materials yourself, the easiest and most cost-effective solution is to use standard photocopy size.
|21 x 29.7 cm (A4)||8 ½ x 11 inches (US Letter)|
If, however, the materials are to be printed by a publisher, you may be able to use a larger format such as:
|25.7 x 36.4 cm (JIS B4)||9 x 12 inches|
|24 x 32 cm||9 ½ x 13 inches|
|27 x 35 cm||10 x 13 inches|
In any event, is important that this setting be determined before editing your performance materials since after the fact changes might require re-addressing issues such as staff size, page turns and/or page layout.
Appropriate margins depend on two factors: page size and binding.
The following charts provide rules of thumb. However, margin settings may vary. If your work is to be published, check your publisher's house style to be sure that your settings are in accordance with their guidelines.
